0과 1은 시대와 문화에 따라 서로 다른 의미를 띤다.
내 작업에서 0은 재다 — 모든 연소가 끝난 뒤 남는 무색의 잔여, 에너지가 비워진 자리.
1은 숯이다 — 흑의 밀도와 잔존, 아직 기록 가능한 흔적의 단위.
나는 이 두 기호를 재와 숯이라는 물질을 이용해 캔버스에 기록한다.
0을 그릴 때는 재의 퇴적·분산·무중량성에,
1을 그릴 때는 숯의 압력·밀도·흔적성에 집중한다.
작업이 끝나면 감정은 사라지고 흔적만 남는다.
이때 남겨진 0과 1의 배열은 나에게는 감정의 흔적이지만,
관객에게는 하나의 비트열, 기계적 패턴, 혹은 단순한 반복으로 보일 수 있다.
나는 완성된 배열을 확장 ASCII의 이진 코드로 변환해 제목을 정한다.
이는 내가 남긴 흔적이 관객의 영역에서 다시 언어가 되는 과정—
자연의 소멸과 인간의 표기 행위가 타인의 코드 체계 속에서 다시 만나는 순간을 드러낸다.
관객은 이 비트열 안에서
내 감정의 잔여를 읽을 수도 있고,
그저 차갑고 기계적인 코드로 받아들일 수도 있다.
사라짐 이후의 세계에는 그만큼의 자유가 있다.
흔적은 하나이지만,
그 흔적을 받아들이는 방식은 사람마다 끝없이 달라진다.

0 and 1 carry different meanings across eras and cultures.
In my work, 0 is ash — the colorless residue left after all combustion has ended, the place from which energy has emptied out.
1 is charcoal — the density of blackness, the remaining unit of a trace still capable of recording.
I inscribe these two signs onto canvas using the materials ash and charcoal.
When I draw a 0, I focus on the sedimentation, dispersion, and weightlessness of ash.
When I draw a 1, I focus on the pressure, density, and trace-forming nature of charcoal.
When the work is finished, my emotion disappears and only the trace remains.
The resulting sequence of 0s and 1s may be the residue of my emotion,
but for the viewer it may appear as a bitstream, a mechanical pattern,
or simply a repetition without narrative.
I convert the final sequence into a title using extended ASCII binary code.
This reveals the moment in which what I leave behind becomes language again—
where natural disappearance and human inscription meet inside a code system
that belongs not to me, but to the viewer.
Each viewer may read the bitstream differently:
some may sense the remnants of emotion,
others may perceive only a cold and mechanical code.
There is freedom in what comes after disappearance.
The trace is singular,
but the reception of that trace is endlessly different from person to person.

0 und 1 tragen je nach Epoche und Kultur unterschiedliche Bedeutungen.
In meiner Arbeit steht 0 für Asche – das farblose Residuum nach vollständiger Verbrennung,
der Ort, an dem sich Energie geleert hat.
1 steht für Kohle – die Dichte des Schwarz, eine verbleibende Einheit der Spur,
die noch fähig ist, etwas zu zeichnen.
Ich übertrage diese beiden Zeichen mit den Materialien Asche und Kohle auf die Leinwand.
Wenn ich eine 0 setze, konzentriere ich mich auf die Ablagerung, Zerstreuung und Schwerelosigkeit der Asche.
Wenn ich eine 1 setze, auf die Dichte, den Druck und die Spurenhaftigkeit der Kohle.
Nach der Fertigstellung verschwindet die Emotion –
zurück bleibt lediglich die Spur.
Die daraus entstehende Folge von 0 und 1 kann für mich ein emotionales Residuum sein,
für die Betrachtenden jedoch erscheint sie vielleicht als Bitstrom,
mechanisches Muster oder als bloße Wiederholung ohne Narrativ.
Die endgültige Zahlenfolge überführe ich mittels erweiterter ASCII-Binärcodes in einen Titel.
So entsteht jener Moment, in dem das von mir Hinterlassene wieder zu Sprache wird –
wo natürliche Vergänglichkeit und menschlicher Zeichenakt
in einem Zeichensystem zusammentreffen, das nicht mir, sondern den Betrachtenden gehört.
Jede*r kann diesen Bitstrom anders lesen:
Einige mögen die Reste einer Emotion erkennen,
andere lediglich einen kalten, technischen Code.
Im Raum nach dem Verschwinden liegt Freiheit.
Die Spur ist eine –
doch ihre Wahrnehmung unterscheidet sich von Mensch zu Mensch unendlich.
